Early to mid 20th century carved elephant ivory Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is 9” high x 2.25” wide x 2” deep and weighs 0.85 lb. Very mellow honey gold patina. See base bottom where very fine ivory grains are shown and a small grain eye near hole drilled to attach the base to statue. This is a two piece carving base separate from statue and secured with screw from the bottom. Superb condition (no chips, breaks or any type of damage). Provenance is possibly Hongkong, China a center of ivory carving during the early to mid 20th century (prior to banning the carving of all types of ivory).
