A Beautiful Italian Carving!
This is a Vintage mid-20th century handcarved wood statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary stepping on a snake which is biting an apple. Provenance is Italy carved by Ditta Goferdo Moroder & Migli. Quality matches or surpasses that of ANRI. It stands 18 1/2" H x 4 1/2" W x 4"D and weights 3 lbs/2oz. It is in mint condition having been stored for many years. Notice that the only visible signs of age are the age spots, which are somewhat caused by the original oil wash applied in this statue. Amazing condition for its age. Colors are in neutral tones, with gold and a stunning orange-yellow apple.
