This is a 19th century altar crucifix from Nicaragua (in Central America) in excellent condition. All carved wood, gessoed and polychrome painted. The corpus is intact and the paint is stable. Complete and no missing parts. Crown of thorns is a newer piece of grape vine. It has old restoration on the fingers (all present). Paint loss on the cross and minor paint loss on the corpus. It has a beautiful solid three tiered base.
