This is a large antique wood carved figure of San Jeronimo or Saint Jerome is often depicted genuflecting on a rock/cave with a lion on his knees, a book with a skull on it. His body is usually in a skin and bone state. His hands are still present. The right hand is holding a rock and inflicts injury on himself as a sacrifice to God. It measures 12.5" high by 6.5” wide by 6" deep at the base and weighs a heavy 1 lb, 14 oz. It is all original paint of various colors (flesh pink, red, green, white & brown).
