From New Mexico Estate
This is a LARGE late 19th century wood carving of “San Miguel Arcangel” or Saint “Michael the Archangel”. This came from an estate whose owner collected santos pieces from various provenance. Broken right hand and paint chip on nose covered with dark patina (meaning it is an old paint chip). He has large reverse painted inset glass eyes emanating its presence when you see it. He may have been holding a sword with his right hand and a weighing scale with his left hand. Both attributes are missing. This piece is solid with no insect damage. He has retained his tin helmet feathers and wings which are in excellent condition.
Measurements: 15.5” high (toe to top of head - excluding tin feathers) x 8” wide x 4” deep
Weight: 1 lb. - 9 oz.
