This is a Vintage mid 20th century (1954) handcarved wood statue of a sitting Madonna and Child signed by the artist M.K. Kaslatter. This piece is from the estate of the late Gordon Ingham Atwater – the renowned petroleum pioneer who was an expert in oil and gas reserves in the United States. Original ANRI label (1954 based on catalog info) is still attached at the bottom of the base and the artist signature is carved at the back of the base. Since this is a handcarved figure and we have owned a few of these pieces in the past, this one has the best carving details we have seen. A traditional design copied by several other carvers but virtually unmatched. The Anri company is founded by Anton Riffeser in 1912 in Val Gardena, South Tyrol, Northern Italy. Last picture is from actual ANRI catalogue circa 1950s. Condition is excellent!
This piece is particularly interesting because the carver added a lock of hair flowing on her front right shoulder and the facial expressions are more serene and beautiful than any of the pieces we have seen.

DIMENSIONS: There are three known sizes made of this piece (5", 6", 7" & 8" high). This one is the 7" high X 4.63" wide X 3.75" deep. Weight is 10.7 oz.
