The original Virgin of Antipolo or Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage was brought from Mexico in 1626. It was named Virgin of Antipolo because it is where it resides nowadays. Antipolo is in the Rizal Province, Philippines.
You are looking at a vintage replica of the Virgin of Antipolo made during the mid to late 20th century. Her face and arms are made of ivory like material. We can’t confirm that they are of ivory because of their small size thereby very little grain is showing. We are selling it as bone material. This virgin is a beauty although carved in the Philippines, it has similar qualities of the Nuestra Senoras carved in Mexico.
The metal crown is not original to the piece. The manufacturing process is called “pukpok” in the local dialect. Nicho altar is not included in this sale. If interested in the nicho please see SKU 2010134
Dimensions: 9.5” high (bottom of base to top of crown) 4.5” wide X 2.5” deep
Weight: 1 lb., 2.5 oz.
