This is a finely carved early 18th century Portuguese Colonial santos from Brazil, Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Immaculate Conception), handcarved, gessoed thickly and polychrome painted. This beautiful piece is highly detailed and has a baroque style that is reflected in the carving and the "estofado" paint technique. She has original tiny glass eyes made of precious stones and three beautiful cherubs below her attached to the clouds. Paint loss commensurate with age and has professional paint touch ups in some parts. One missing horn or crescent moon tip on the right is a replacement otherwise everything is original . Old crown is not original to the piece. Very collectible piece which has sold up to over 1K in auctions. last picture is for comparison only.

The vintage brass crown shown at the backview picture is included in the sale price.

Dimensions:  12" high (bottom of base to tip of crown) x 4.25" wide x 3.5" deep and weighs 12.8 oz.
