Santo Attendant

This LARGE tableau is a unique rendition of the Immaculate Conception wherein normally the Virgin is atop a cloud with clasped hands in prayer and cherub heads on the cloud. This one presents it differently utilizing a large hexagonal base with two kneeling angels in a prayerful pose. The Virgin and angels have similar hair styles. A portion of the left foot is missing and outstretched hands of the angels as well. The tableau was carved during the early part of the 20th century and is Philippines in origin most probably from the southern region. Polychrome paint over gesso with minor paint wear. This tableau will be an excellent display and conversational piece with it’s unique presentation and large size. Carved out of a very heavy, dark and dense wood.

Dimensions: Angels 5” high ,  Virgin 16.5" high X 5.25" wide X 4" deep, Base 8" high X 10" wide X 10" deep. Total Height = 23"
Weight: 11.2 lbs
