This is an 18th century gold plated silver halo from a medium sized santos (12 “– 16”). It was acid tested and passed the high grade silver content. Rays are cut by hand and decorated chasing the outlines. Very simple but unique design with the inner open circle decorated with a cross. It looks like a smaller version of a monstrance. There is a spring attached at the center of the cross at the back. This spring can be attached to the head of a saint to hold the halo. Once attached, there will be a floating effect since the spring will make the halo move with the slightest force. This is the intent of the spring during those times. See picture where we placed it on a 14” high saint (not included in the sale listed separately SKU# 2013104. Provenance is Philippines.
