This is a mid 19th century carved wood saint figure of Saint Anthony or San Antonio de Padua from Mexico. He has major paint loss and looking closely, it may have been originally painted in gold leaf and some other color. The overpaint or later paint is peacock blue. As time pass by the gold appeared and provided a nice contrasting effect. The piece still has its original tin halo, the book and Christ Child kneeling over it. The Christ Child is in excellent condition. Missing are the four fingers of his right hand and its base.
