This is an early 20th century carved wood image Our Lady of Rosary or Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Carved by the renowned Cortes santero family. It is signed M. Cortes at the right side front of the base. A similar piece which has less details and smaller in size (8" high) was sold online a few years back for over $1.5 k. This is probably the finest Cortes masterpiece never before offered anywhere. The floral design is three dimensional and is a porcelain like finish. It is just difficult to describe so look the pictures carefully. It seems that three of the Lady's fingers were reattached. There is a bounty of color combinations. The base, crowns and resplandor (halo) color combinations are gold gilting and thick oil painted layers of turquoise. The tiny cross on their crowns are intact.  The wood is heavy and solid.
CONDITION:   The piece is in very good condition.  The paint is in very good condition retained original coloring and texture. Some paint loss at the crown.
Size:    Stands approximately 11.5" High x 8.75" wide x 4.0" deep.

Weight:  1 Lb, 3 Oz.
